Burgess Hill’s Urban Beach has opened today – a free sand pit in our town for little ones to enjoy over the summer holidays. It will be open until 4pm, ahead of its grand opening tomorrow at 10am by town mayor councillor Chris Cherry.

A decision to reinstate a morning train from Wivelsfield to Hassocks has left a school 'delighted'.

Around 130 students at Downlands Community School in Hassocks were having to arrive either too early for school or too late due to timetable changes introduced in May.

An Uckfield man has paid thanks to the 'amazing' cardiac rehab unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath after a 'life-changing event'.

Ron Hill, 79, of The Mount, Uckfield, had a heart attack on Friday, April 13, and now attends the hospital once a week. He said: "Having a heart attack forces your perspective to change."

Alan McCarthy, chairman of the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is to leave his post to take on a new role.

He is to take over as chairman of the Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust.
